May 6, Alec
May. 2nd, 2017 09:08 pmThey're planning a June wedding, which is starting to become very real, and very soon. Isabelle isn't the one getting married but she's still starting to feel the stress of it, hoping that everything is done in time to pull the day off perfectly. She's helped out as much as she can but she doesn't want to be overbearing, and she knows Alec will get easily overwhelmed. Which is why she's decided that today is shopping day.
It's not in Alec's nature to ask for gifts from anyone, so Isabelle is assuming that he hasn't done anything about a gift registry yet. She knows technically Magnus could just conjure anything they might ever need, but that takes all the fun out of wedding presents. She's seen it in mundane movies and read about it, and she's decided that Magnus and Alec will have a gift registry, even if she has to force one on them. There are heaps of people in Darrow who are going to want to shower them with love and affection and presents, and Isabelle wants to make sure they don't end up with anything terrible or seven of the same toaster or something ridiculous.
She's dragged Alec to the mall under protest, and with a scan gun in her hand Isabelle feels in her element. She's already scanned a dozen things that she thinks would make excellent gifts, moving determinedly through the aisles.
"Magnus would love that," she calls out, pointing to a throw rug with a silver trim that sparkles against the light. It's opulent and probably expensive but Isabelle scans it with a flourish anyway, glancing over at Alec with red lips curved into a grin. "Just don't let the cats shed all over it."

Dated January 10, 2017
Jan. 8th, 2017 06:00 pmIt had seemed like a good enough way to kick off the new year. The flying monkey bat things at Kagura on New Years Eve had been fun, had given Isabelle cause to get her whip out again, but it wasn't quite the same. It was a relatively easy fight, nothing like the kind of high she gets when fighting demons. Which is why it hadn't taken long for her to ask Alec to go out, and he had readily agreed. Isabelle knows she can always count on Alec to be behind her in a fight, and she knows that on some level, even he gets restless in this city.
The night starts off normally enough. They both armed themselves, dressed in their gear and headed out. Demons were starting to appear less frequently in Darrow but they still cropped up on the odd occasion, and Isabelle was glad that tonight appears to be one of them. Her necklace hummed at her throat and together they followed it to the edge of the city, their footsteps silent on the street.
The demon, once they found it, was particularly horrible. Every time she sees a new one Isabelle thinks they can't possibly get any grosser, but they always seem to find a way to surpass her expectations. It looked like a giant slug, its body covered in rows upon rows of suckers that Isabelle had no intention of finding out the purpose of. It was faceless, or eyeless at the least, but on both ends was a gaping mouth with rimmed with what looked like shark's teeth. Its back was lined with sharp, dagger-looking wings, more of them than Isabelle could count. Isabelle cast a quick glance towards Alec, but he was stony-faced, an arrow already nocked.
The demon lunged at them quickly, and Isabelle was surprised with the speed at which it moved, considering its lumbering size. She dodged and it missed her narrowly enough that she felt its breath hot and disgusting, saw yellow drool dripping from its mouth. Isabelle flung her whip out but Alec was faster, embedding an arrow in the demon's mouth. It reared back and Alec shot again at the same time as Isabelle brought her whip down, feeling it cut through layers of demon flesh. Demon ichor sprayed out and Isabelle almost gagged at the smell. She'd need a hardcore rune to get the smell and stains out of her gear later, but for now that hardly mattered.
"Alec, move!" she shouted as the demon went for him, obviously in pain but not about to give up yet. Alec backed up a little, arrow after arrow flying from his bow and thudding into the demon's flesh, but it kept moving. Gritting her teeth, Isabelle raced forward and brought her whip down in a flash with all her strength. The demon sliced in half, shuddering and twitching and hissing in pain. Isabelle grimaced and glanced toward Alec to make sure it hadn't touched him. She was only distracted for half a second but the demon writhed and gave one last lunge, sinking sharp teeth into her leg. Isabelle screamed, bringing her whip down hard and forcing it to release her, but she could feel herself collapsing at the same time. She fell back, dimly hearing Alec shout her name but she was already drifting, her breathing coming in sharp bursts, her eyes slipping closed.
And she remembered. There had been a time almost exactly like this, she knew. Not in Darrow but home, in Hell, of all places. She remembers the stink of the air, how hard it was to breathe under the suffocating weight of it. She remembers Alec, heartbroken and so determined to find Magnus. She remembers the desperation in Clary's eyes, the fierceness in Jace's. She remembers them all marching in to Hell to save their friends, knowing that there was a good chance none of them would come back.
Isabelle convulses on the ground and she knows Alec is there, calling to her, but she's stuck, watching flashes of thoughts and memories that she doesn't remember having racing through her mind. She remembers Sebastian, his disguise gone and his hair as silver as Valentine's, his eyes cruel. And she remembers Max, remembers the way he looked at her the last time she saw him, remembers going to his funeral and feeling like a part of her soul had been torn out. She might die here, she thinks idly, but that seems suddenly to matter far less in the shadow of the knowledge that Max died first, that it was her who was supposed to protect him and she failed.
Slowly she comes to, fuelled back to consciousness by the pain in her leg. It doesn't make any sense but she knows that the memories are real, knows that it's the piece of the puzzle she's been missing this whole time, the piece that Magnus had so carefully kept hidden from them.
ooc: Isabelle has been canon updated to near the end of the TMI series: this comes with the knowledge that her baby brother died, among other things. Trace if you want to play from here I'm down with it, otherwise anyone can feel free to come upon the scene or find her at any time later, where she'll more than likely have locked herself in her room. I'm open to whatever is convenient for your pups, though. Twitter me if any questions <3

SOTP: November 2016

darrow 2 plot things
Sep. 1st, 2016 11:05 amOKAY. This post is gonna be a lot of half formed ideas and rambling because I apparently can't make any decisions so any all and input is extremely welcome.
ISABELLE: Not a Shadowhunter, maybe a high profile fashion designer?? Probably high maintenance and asks too much of her assistant, drinks pretentious coffee orders and orders people around a lot. Is secretly a Downworlder (faerie??? super manipulation?) for extra fun. Is trying to adjust to Darrow 2 after living the high life in NYC, probably has been in the city for a few months. Need to hash out how this will work with her canonmates etc., but I'm open to anything anyone might want to do with her.
NATE: Think I'm gonna stick to just Nate Prime for this and have him interact with alt versions of his friends. I will require threads with alt Beth and alt Coop if leah and trace are in because Nate will be so >:((( at both of them.
MATTHEW: In canon his friend Domick was sent to be a spy on the Council and as a result turned all hard and distant, gonna alt this so that it was Matthew. He's allergic to smiling and had spent his time at home spying and using his Talents to try and take down the Council but it's changed him quite a bit. He'll have been in Darrow 2 about a year or so and working with Eames' extraction team because his farseeking means he has the ability to go into people's heads and extract secrets without any machine and this Matthew will be way less scrupulous about it. Open to suggestions/threads here too.
RAVEN: Okay for Raven I'm still tossing up between two options: either she is a total Darrow 2 native, knows nothing about her own canon, her mother was a stepford wife instead of an alcoholic and raised Raven to be the same. She runs bake sales and smiles too perfectly and is basically the anti-Raven. HOWEVER this would be way more fun if I had a volunteer to be her husband or fiancee or something. OPTION 2 is full on Grounder Raven where canon remains the same but she was born on the Ground, not the Ark and is a tough as nails warrior Grounder. OPEN TO INPUT.
This is all subject to change but I need to get the ball rolling before sign ups so please talk to me about stuff so that I can finally start to put some things in motion!

august 19, spencer
Aug. 19th, 2016 03:57 pmWhen she'd arrived in this city, Isabelle hadn't expected that things would go the way they have. She's always had Alec, but she never expected that she would end up with a sort of makeshift family, including a mundane. A year ago she would have scoffed, but now Isabelle's not sure what she would do without them.
She gets Spencer's text mid-morning, asking her for coffee and that he has some kind of news. News, it seems, is far from in short supply at the moment. Isabelle has already had her plate full with the mess between Alec and Magnus, and her own relationship with Billy, but she's curious as to what Spencer could have to say. For a moment she considers if it's anything to do with Luke's full moon adventure the other night, but Isabelle is pleased that they'd wrapped that up considerably neatly.
Spencer is family so Isabelle doesn't bother to dress up too fancy, though she does slip into tight jeans and a bright top before she leaves. The coffee shop isn't far from her apartment so she figures she'll walk, enjoying the sun on her face. She sends Reid a quick text to let him know that she's on her way, and it only takes her about ten minutes to reach the place they'd agreed on.
It doesn't look like he's arrived yet, so Isabelle finds a corner table and orders two coffees, anticipating that he won't be far behind her.

Aug. 12th, 2016 04:38 pmAlec has probably spent more time in Isabelle's apartment over the last few weeks than he has his own, but Isabelle still feels like they haven't really spent much time together. She'd wanted to give him his space to work through things, and besides, Isabelle has been spending a lot of time at Billy's, too. Out of solidarity she hasn't spoken to Magnus except for a cold text message telling him exactly how much she disapproves, but from what she can see, things seem to be looking up.
Isabelle doesn't know if she'll ever truly forgive Magnus for hurting her brother like that, but she is glad to see them mending things. Darrow doesn't feel right with Alec and Magnus apart, and she'd been surprised to learn how much she depended on the two of them to ground her. Not to mention keep reminding her that it's okay to date, maybe. Isabelle has always been a firm believer in love being for suckers, and watching Alec and Magnus be all ridiculous around each other had made her start to believe she might be wrong. Watching them fall apart had hurt, made her question the entire institution all over again.
It's about time the Lightwoods had some time to themselves, away from everything, so Isabelle tells Alec to stay in tonight, and she goes grocery shopping for the first time in what feels like forever. She probably shouldn't cook, but she wants to, wants to feel like she's doing something, even if it's just cooking a meal for her brother, which he'll probably try and avoid.
She has a soup bubbling away on the stove by the time Alec walks through the door, and chicken in the oven. She figures she can't really fuck that up, but she does have the number for pizza on speed dial, just in case.

[gym - tris]
Jun. 5th, 2016 10:54 pmAfter Fight Club, Isabelle made a loose rule not to fight any mundanes anymore, but that doesn't mean she can't train with them. Or in the vicinity of them, anyway. Normally most of her training is done with Alec, but today Isabelle is at the gym, watching the mundanes move around curiously. Her hair is up and off her face and she has her wrists strapped, half concentrating on the boxing bag in front of her.
Her mind is elsewhere, on the job she's hoping to get and the boy she's maybe kind of dating, and for a moment she feels hopelessly mundane. Darrow changes people, that much she's learned, and apparently it's starting to change her, too. When she and Alec had first arrived they'd talked of nothing but getting out, getting home, but then things have started to shift. Now, she's setting down roots and forming attachments to things and people that she doesn't want to leave, and it's odd. Not necessarily in a bad way, but a way that's very different to the way Isabelle has lived her life prior.
Idly, she throws a punch at the bag. She's only half paying attention and it's not the best she can do, but she knows it's still better than most of the mundanes here could manage, so she doesn't feel self conscious. If Alec were here he'd tell her she was doing an abysmal job of training and that she should be focussed, but he's not, so she doesn't care.
